About The Bilingual Environmental Science Academy
Who we are
The BESA School is a non-profit, bilingual and environmental science preschool offering care and high-quality education to infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-age children in Norwalk, California.
We challenge the status quo of the traditional childcare system by providing holistic early education for ALL! We serve children from various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds through our various programs including our after school tutoring program.
Enrichment is provided weekly with live music classes, bilingual education, environmental science curriculum, dance and performing arts instruction, field trips and much more. Additionally, we ensure that all children receive the quality attention they need by creating small class sizes with lower teacher-to-student ratios.
We accept government-subsidized and privately funded tuition. In order to provide this unique program to undeserved children and communities requires additional funding. Our school is the gold standard of early childhood education!
Our Philosophy
At the BESA School we believe that early childhood education is essential for optimal emotional and cognitive development. With our emphasis on bilingual education, students will not only develop complex language skills, they will also develop empathy and compassion for others.
We also believe that when young children have the opportunity to go outdoors and explore the natural world around them, they experience numerous benefits.
Studies show that inquiry-based learning and scientific investigation in an outdoor setting results in students being more motivated to learn, more engaged in their education, and more successful in school. Therefore, at BESA, we focus on hands-on, collaborative, bilingual education to prepare students to become problem solvers, creative thinkers, compassionate human beings, and responsible citizens.
Our Mission
The BESA School is a quality bilingual preschool (English and Spanish) with an emphasis on environmental science, social-emotional development, and arts education. BESA has well-qualified, caring teachers who look forward to working with you and your child. We strongly believe all children should be given the opportunity to have a high-quality early childhood education. Therefore, children at the BESA school will be stimulated with creative, fun, and interactive activities that engage and motivate them to pursue learning and develop healthy attitudes about interacting with others from diverse backgrounds.
Our Administration

Bridgette Robinson-Hernandez
Founder and Director
Mrs. Bridgette Robinson-Hernandez is a charismatic, creative, and visionary educator. Her view on education is that children learn best through interactive activities. Challenging, creative, and engaging activities awaken children’s natural curiosity and love for learning.
She has a background in behavioral therapy, especially with young children with autism, has taught her that every child is unique in their learning style, and once an educator finds the individual student’s mode of learning, the educator can maximize the learning potential of the child.
Bridgette also earned her Master's Degree in Education from Loyola Marymount University and has worked in the public school system for the past four years as a science, English and social studies teacher. She is also trained and certified in California’s Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). During her time in the classroom, she managed the AVID program at her school to ensure that all students had access to quality education.
